Richard Paul Thomas MCIPR, has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations since 1989 and as Director of Communication in one of the largest voluntary organisations in the UK , has led a highly proactive communications team. He has considerable experience of strategic planning, stakeholder management, internal and external communication, marketing communication, charity PR, media relations, and media training.
His work is heavily influenced by the Grubb Institute and its work on systems communication, looking at the way groups and organisations work together to achieve goals and tasks.
His skills have been sought from as far afield as New Zealand , India , Africa and Singapore , where he has worked on a consultancy basis. He founded and ran a media charity for many years. He is the author of a textbook on communication, and another on the changing way that people belong to organisations.
He has considerable experience in Crisis Management, having led his organisation's response for two rail crashes. He has managed the communications and media relations for a House of Lords select committee and has given confidential support and advice to individuals in media crisis. He is also a freelance strategic marketing consultant for the Government.
